Before & after your tattoo

How should I prepare for a tattoo appointment?+

Arrive rested, eat beforehand, stay hydrated and wear clothing that gives easy access to the area being tattooed. Follow any specific preparation instructions sent by your artist.

How should I take care of a new tattoo?+

Follow the aftercare instructions given by your artist. In general, keep the tattoo clean, avoid scratching or picking it, avoid soaking it while it heals, and protect it from direct sun. If you notice worsening redness, swelling, heat, pus, fever or severe pain, seek medical advice.

Can I exercise after getting tattooed?+

It depends on the size and placement of the tattoo. Avoid activities that create heavy friction, stretching or excessive sweating over the fresh tattoo, especially during the first days. Follow your artist’s advice for your specific project.

Can I swim or expose a new tattoo to the sun?+

Avoid swimming, baths and prolonged soaking while the tattoo is healing. Keep a fresh tattoo out of direct sun. Once fully healed, regular sun protection helps preserve the tattoo over time.
